About Yamazakura (Japanese Cherry)

“Yamazakura” is a species of cherry tree that grows naturally in the mountains and fields throughout Japan and has long been one of the most beloved trees of the Japanese people. In spring, it blooms pale flowers simultaneously with its new leaves, and its modest yet elegant appearance has come to symbolize the “spirit of Japan.”
As a tonewood, Yamazakura is hard and dense, yet easy to work with. It features a warm, reddish hue and a beautiful grain. Over time, its color deepens and develops a natural luster, making it highly valued for fine furniture and musical instruments.
The Yamazakura we use is a distinguished wood nurtured by the rich natural environment of Miyazaki. It pairs harmoniously with Jisugi (Japanese cedar), providing both visual and tonal balance.
